How to Install Extension in OpenCart?

Extensions are add-on programs that provide extra functionality to your website. All our extensions come with an installation manual to guide you through the setup. For detailed requirements and installation instructions, you can find it within the extension you purchased.

Installing OpenCart Extension

  1. Download the extension installation archive. It's usually a .zip file.
  2. Unzip the installation archive to a folder on your computer.
  3. Open the FileZilla Client
  4. On the left side you can see the files on your computer and on the right side you can see the files on the server. In the left pane browse to the folder where you extracted the extension installation archive. In the right pane navigate to your OpenCart store main directory (usually /)
  5. Follow the developer installation instructions in regards to what files to upload. The installation instructions are usually contained in a text file called “installation”, or “readme”.
  6. Right click on it and upload its contents to the main directory of your store.
  7. If you are prompted to overwrite existing files, you may already have an extension with the same filenames on your server. Installing another extension with the same filenames could cause errors. If you are updating an already installed extension, ignore this warning and select “Overwrite All”.

That's it! You just installed an OpenCart extension.

OCMOD Extension Installation

OCMOD is default extension installer from Opencart v2.0 further. vQmod does NOT need to be installed

  1. Make sure that the FTP form in admin settings is completed and enabled
    (If you do not want to use FTP or it is disabled by the hosting company or you are developing using localhost, install iSenseLabs' extension)
  2. Download correct OCMOD extension/module version for your site - file name must end with .ocmod.zip and include a folder named "upload". While the "upload" folder is required it does not necessarily have to include any files.
  3. If a previous version of the same extension exists in the modification list, delete it: do not merely disable it
  4. Go to Extension > Modifications > Log Tab Clear log - this clears only the OCMOD log.
  5. Go to Extension > Modifications Clear file cache by clicking on top.
  6. Go to OpenCart admin panel > Extensions > Extension Installer, click on the upload button and run the .ocmod.zip file
  7. Go to Extension > Modifications > Click refresh button - this is very important.
  8. Check Log to show successful verification.

vQmod Extension Installation

Your vQmod is installed and you are ready to install a vQmod based extension. (How to Install vQmod)

  1. Visit OpenCart Extension listing page to download vQmod extensions required.
  2. Unzip the installation archive to a folder on your computer.
  3. Open the FileZilla Client.
  4. On the left side you can see the files on your computer and on the right side you can see the files on the server. In the left pane browse to the folder where you extracted the extension installation archive. In the right pane navigate to your OpenCart store main directory (usually /)
  5. Right click on vQmod folder and upload to the main directory of your OpenCart store.
  6. Go to your admin Extensions > Modules you will see the module in the list.
  7. Click install link to install the module.
  8. After installation, click on the edit link and set the setting for a module.
  9. Go to the frontend to see the module working.
